Demystifying high-lateral-tension abdominoplasty.

چکیده

The author clarifies "high-lateral-tension abdominoplasty" (HLT), a procedure based on the premise that the greatest abdominal excess is usually in the lateral abdomen and that tightening of lateral excess is what most improves contour the central abdomen. While the classic approach improves contour by pulling inferiorly on the central abdomen, thereby creating the highest tension along the central incision, HLT pulls obliquely from each of the incision's 2 lateral arms, thereby placing the highest tension laterally.

Maximizing aesthetics in lateral-tension abdominoplasty and body lifts.

The high-lateral-tension abdominoplasty addresses the practical and theoretic faults of standard abdominoplasty design. Key features include limited direct undermining, increased lateral skin resection with highest-tension wound closure along lateral limbs, two-layer superficial fascial system repair, and significant truncal liposuction when needed. The high-lateral-tension design limits the un...

Classic high lateral tension and triangular resection methods to prevent dog ear and elongation scar in patients undergoing abdominoplasty: A comparative open-label clinical trial

BACKGROUND One of the most common operations in the plastic surgery curse is abdominoplasty. Several methods were recommended for achieving better results. In the present study, efficacy of a new method compared with classical high lateral tension on preventing dog ear and elongation scar was evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS in an open-label, randomized clinical trial, seventy patients who we...

Lower-body lift.

The lower-body lift, designed for patients with multiple lower-body contour deformities, uses a circumferential bikini-line incision to simultaneously lift relaxed trunk and thigh tissues. The author describes 2 lower-body lift procedures, focusing primarily on the high-lateral-tension abdominoplasty with transverse-thigh/buttock lift, which he developed in 1996. (Aesthetic Surg J 2001;21:355-3...

Outcome analysis of combined lipoabdominoplasty versus conventional abdominoplasty.

BACKGROUND Abdominoplasty and liposuction have traditionally been separate procedures. The authors performed a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the outcomes of a novel single-stage approach combining extensive lipoplasty with a modified transverse abdominoplasty. METHODS One hundred fourteen patients were evaluated for abdominal contouring. Patients were categorized into four groups: gr...

Redefining abdominal anatomy: 10 key elements for restoring form in abdominoplasty.

While traditional abdominoplasty methods can successfully achieve the objective of restoring a flat appearance, the results can be artificially board-like, lacking the subtle anatomical features of a three-dimensional abdomen, thus creating the potential for patient dissatisfaction. While often difficult to articulate, patient criticism is almost always distilled to the ubiquitous concern that ...
